How do I monitor a POP 3 Email Server
IsItUp has two types of monitors designed for testing Email Servers. First, IsItUp has special tests for POP 3, IMAP4, and SMTP Email Servers. The POP 3, IMAP4 and SMTP monitors connect to the Email servers to send requests and check for valid responses according to their respective protocols. Second, IsItUp has a Round Trip Email Monitor. This monitor type sends a probe message to the Email Server you wish to test. The Email Server you wish to test must have an account setup with an auto-reply rule to return the probe message back to IsItUp. This insures that the Email Server is operational. The Round Trip Email Monitor can be used with any type of Email Server.
